Get Started - Users

Process Overview

To get invited to SAM, the company's Org Admin must initiate the onboarding by adding the user to SAM. The user will then receive an email notification containing a SAM activation link. Complete the below steps to set up your SAM user account:

Step 1.  Activate Your SAM Account

Step 2.  Register OTP Credential

Step 3.  Complete Identity Proofing (if required)

Step 4.  Log in with OTP to Access Applications

Please note that account activation must be completed within 180 days, or the account will be deleted. The account activation email will be resent twice every 30 days, and new activation notifications will supersede older activation emails. 



Step 1.  Activate Your SAM Account

After the Organization Administrator creates a SAM account for you, you will receive the activation email with the subject line "Exostar's Healthcare/Life Sciences Partner has invited you to access their application via Exostar." From this email, follow the steps below to activate your SAM account:

Step 1.  Click the Account Activation link provided in the email. You will be redirected to SAM’s activation screen. If you do not have the email, go to https://secureaccess.exostar.com, and enter your email address in order to have it resent.

Step 2.  After clicking the activation link, you are directed to SAM’s activation screen. Click Next to proceed.

Step 3.  Create and confirm your password and click Next. 

NOTE: Passwords expire after 90 days.

Step 4.  Create your password reset secrets by selecting and responding to four security questions. Click Next.

Step 5.  An activation confirmation displays. Click Next to redirect to Exostar’s SAM Platform portal.




Step 3. Register OTP Credential (if required)

One Time Password credentials are mandatory if you need to access partner applications that require two-factor authentication. Exostar offers three types of OTP credentials:

  • Phone OTP Credential
  • Exostar Mobile ID Credential
  • OTP Hardware Token

Follow the steps below to register your OTP credential. Note that in some instances, you will have the option to choose the OTP credential type that you would like to register. If your organization is not set up to accept OTP Hardware or Exostar Mobile ID, you will only see Phone OTP.

Complete the steps below to register an OTP credential:

Step 1.  Go to https://secureaccess.exostar.com, and log into your SAM account.

Step 2.  Navigate to the My Account tab.

Step 3.  Click the OTP link.

Step 4.  Click Register.

Step 5.  Choose the OTP credential that you would like to register, and click Submit.

Step 6.  For OTP Hardware, enter your address, and click Submit. For Phone OTP or Exostar Mobile ID (powered by Authy™), enter user information, select the country, and click Next.


if registering for a Phone OTP, complete these steps :

Step 1.  Select Delivery Method (text or voice) and country. Enter the phone number in the Enter and Confirm Phone Number fields.

Step 2.  Click Send Code.

Step 3.  Receive the verification code via your selected delivery method.

Step 4.  Enter the received code in the Verification Code field.

Step 5.  Click Submit, receive the Successful Registration message, and click Complete.


If registering for Exostar Mobile ID, complete these steps

Step 1.  Install Authy™ on your mobile device. You can find Authy™ on your phone’s app store.

Step 2.  Select country, and enter your mobile phone number. Click Register Phone.

Step 3.  View the push notification or app from your mobile device to approve or deny. If this is unsuccessful, obtain a token ID from the app.  Click the X to cancel One Touch. Enter the token ID that displays in the Authy app in the Soft OTP field and click Submit.

Step 4.  You will receive a successful registration message. Click Complete.




Step 4. Complete Identity Proofing (if required)

Identity proofing refers to the process, by which Exostar verifies users' digital identities. Identity proofing provides a higher level of security, and some companies set it as the prerequisite for access to their secure applications. If required, complete identity proofing.

Exostar uses two proofing methods to verify a user's identity: Experian Instant and Live Video Proofing, To learn more about each type of proofing, visit the SAM Identity Proofing page.




Step 5.  Login with OTP to Access Applications

Log into SAM with your registered OTP credential if you need to access secure applications. Please note that you need to log in with User ID and Password first. Follow the steps below to log in with an OTP credential.

Log in with the User ID and Password first:

Step 1.  Go to https://secureaccess.exostar.com.

Step 2.  Enter your Email and click Next.

Step 3.  Enter your password, and click Next.

Step 4.  You are now logged into your SAM account. Launch applications from your SAM Home tab.


Now, let's login with an OTP.


Complete the below steps if you are logging in with an OTP Hardware Token:

Step 1.  Log into your Exostar SAM Platform account with your username and password.

Step 2.  Select One Time Password.  Click Continue.

Step 3.  You will receive the OTP Authentication page.  Enter the One-Time Password code displayed on your token in the One-Time Password field.  Click Authenticate.

Step 4.  You are authenticated with your OTP Hardware token.  The credential strength (upper, right corner) will display Hardware OTP.


Complete the steps below if you are logging in with a Phone OTP:

Step 1.  Log into your Exostar SAM Platform account with your username and password.

Step 2.  Navigate to My Account, and click OTP in the left-hand menu.

Step 3.  Click Elevate.

Step 4.  The phone number and delivery method default. Click Send

Step 5.  You receive the authentication code via your selected delivery method. Enter the code in the field provided.  Click Next.

You are authenticated with your Phone OTP credential.  The credential strength (upper, right corner) will display Phone OTP


Complete the steps below if you are logging in with Exostar Mobile ID:

Step 1.  Log into your Exostar SAM Platform account with your username and password.

Step 2.  Select One Time Password.  Click Continue.

Step 3.  To approve with One Touch, click Approve from the push notification received via your mobile device.

Step 4.  If One Touch is not working or you want to enter the token ID manually, click X.

Step 5.  Enter the code that displays in the Authy app on your mobile device in the Soft OTP field.  Click Submit.

Step 6.  You are authenticated with your Exostar Mobile ID credential. The credential strength (upper, right corner) displays Mobile ID
